North Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Fire officials are investigating what caused a North Las Vegas recycling plant to go up in flames Sunday afternoon.
It happened around noon near Craig and the I-15.
Firefighters said the wind was a huge concern, because it helped the fire accelerate quickly.
The other concern was that the plant was open and operating at the time of the fire, and firefighters estimated the flames grew to nearly 50 feet.
The two-alarm fire prompted a massive response. 22 units with more than 50 firefighters from different area departments attacked the fire from all angles, using two cranes to douse the flames from high above the glass recycling plant.
Officials said the fire appears to have started outside before spreading to the interior.
Firefighters said they had to move quickly to move against all the wind that helped those flames spread.
"Whenever you have wind and oxygen and it's supplying a fire, you're going to have more of a challenge trying to contain it and fortunately they were able to do that," explained Cedric Williams with North Las Vegas Fire.
No employees or firefighters were injured on Sunday.
The amount of damage is still being calculated and the cause is still be investigated.
