Crown Food Europe, a subsidiary of Crown, has installed an in-house aluminum can production line at inside the Portuguese canned fish provider Cofaco's Rabo de Peixe plant.
The new line is expected to address the growing market demand for canned tuna as well as improve the operational efficiencies of the company's production process.
Rabo de Peixe plant is situated on Sao Miguel Island in the Portuguese archipelago of the Azores.
Crown Food Europe senior vice president Didier Sourisseau said, "Our two companies have worked together for over 20 years, and Crown is committed to supporting Cofaco as they continue to reinforce their established leadership in the Portuguese canned fish market."
Crown has also offered training to the can line operators at its facility in Alcochete, Portugal.
At its Rabo de Peixe plant, Cofaco runs three production lines exclusively for tuna fish and produces various styles, including fillets and slices, in olive oil, soya oil and brine.
The company also operates a second plant in Magdalena on Pico Island in the Azores archipelago.
