In February this year, the seasonally and working-day adjusted turnover in the German manufacturing industry rose by 0.5 percent compared to the previous month, following a revised month-on-month decrease of 0.4 percent in January, according to the preliminary data reported by Germany's Federal Statistical Office (Destatis). The working day adjusted turnover in the German manufacturing sector in February 2013 was lower by three percent compared to February 2012.
In February, the greatest month-on-month turnover increase in the German manufacturing sector was observed in the motor vehicles and vehicle parts industry with a rise of 3.8 percent. In the motor vehicle segment, in the given month there was a 5.8 percent increase in domestic sales and a 2.8 percent rise in foreign sales, month on month.
In February, the turnover of German metal and metal product manufacturing decreased 0.2 percent as compared to January, with domestic sales decreasing by one percent, while foreign sales were up by 1.3 percent, month on month. In February, a 0.5 percent month-on-month increase was recorded in the turnover in manufacture of fabricated metal products, with domestic sales increasing 0.3 percent and foreign sales up by 1.2 percent, both compared to the previous month.
