Nordeon Has Acquired Decorative Outdoor Lighting Manufacturer Hess

Luminaire specialist Nordeon has acquired decorative outdoor lighting manufacturer Hess, in an asset deal that comes into effect from 1 October.

The takeover includes the Hess factory at Villingen-Schwenningen in Germany, its sales company in Stockholm, Sweden, and its production site and sales in Gaffney, USA.

Commenting on the deal, Nordeon Group CEO Pierre van Lamsweerde, said: “The product line of both companies is completely different. Thus, the companies do not compete against each other, but complement each other in an excellent way.”

He added: “We want to introduce the strengths of Nordeon and Hess, bundle them and combine them to a strong whole.”

Nordeon manufactures luminaires for use indoors and outdoors, while Hess produces luminaires for the street and public lighting sectors.

Nordeon was founded last October with the purchase of Philips’ professional lighting site in Springe, Germany. The company grew with the acquisition of the Philips fluorescent lamp site in Chalon, France, and then Vulkan GmbH earlier this year.

Hess employees will not be affected by the changes, says the company.

As reported by Lighting, it is just a few months since Hess filed for insolvency after suspicions of accounting irregularities at the firm.
