New York-based manufacturer Charles Ross & Son (Ross) has unveiled new multi-shaft mixers to facilitate robust large-scale production.
The machine, dubbed Ross VersaMix Multi-Shaft Mixers, range allows manufacturers to achieve batch processing of high-volume viscous applications that is both reliable and repeatable. Solid-liquid dispersions, suspensions, pastes and gels, and thickened emulsions can all be processed using the mixers.
The VersaMix is a multi-agitator system according to Ross. It can easily adapt for mixing at low, intermediate and high shear levels, and also for any combination required for powder wet-out, homogenization, de-agglomeration, emulsification, heating/cooling and de-aeration.
Ross says that VersaMix gives the option of tailoring its agitator combinations, recipe controls, horsepower selections and other features to cater to the specific process requirements of any mixing application.
One of the machines in the range, the Ross Model VMC-750 comes with a dual-post lift, 750-gallon mix vessels that are interchangeable, and a triple-agitator system comprising a low speed anchor, high shear rotor/stator assembly and high speed disperser.
Each of the agitators can be driven independently and controlled from an HMI panel.
According to Ross, up to 1, 2 and 4 gallons of laboratory models can be scaled easily to 10 and 40 gallons pilot and on to large capacity of 100-1,000 gallons of change-can models. It further says that its fixed-tank designs are provided up to a capacity of 4,000 gallons.
Last month, Ross unveiled the Ross Ribbon Blenders range which provides practical solutions for specialty and demanding applications. They can be used for mixing granules, powders, and other dry solids, and also in wet applications like suspensions, pastes and slurries.
