Quintain Steel, one of the major wire rod producers in Taiwan, announced to leave its list prices for all its wire rod products unchanged on March 25th. Affected by China Steel Corp. (CSC)’s unchanged price policy, Quintain Steel also decided to keep prices flat. After the adjustment, the company’s list prices for blast furnace Al-killed wire rods are at NT$25,000/ton; those for rimmed wire rods are at NT$23,000/ton and those for blast furnace killed wire rods are at NT$22,000/ton. Industry sources pointed out that Quintain Steel’s April list price met the market participants’ forecasts as the raw material prices have dropped recently. It’s learned that the quotes of the US HMS 80:20 (1&2) to Taiwan have dipped by US$15/ton to US$370~US$375/ton C&F this week. The spot iron prices have slid to US$136/ton C&F.
