Wistron is planning to transform its digital signage subsidiary AOpen from a simple hardware supplier to an software/hardware integrator and service provider, pushing a diversified business model, according to company chairman Simon Lin.
Lin expects the transformation to take at least 1-2 years to complete.
Since AOpen has experience in manufacturing and technologies, and is also familiar with back-end modularization processes, Lin believes the knowledge will be the foundation of the transformation, allowing the company to have a cost advantage.
Currently, AOpen has many clients including transportation service companies and fast food restaurants in Taiwan, and sees 90% of revenues contributed by its digital signage business.
