Futamura Reports Sales Growth in First Year

Futamura has reported better sales growth and record levels of operational efficiency in the year since its purchase of Innovia Films’ cellulose business.

The acquisition was announced back in April last year. The company stated that acquiring Innovia’s Cellophane business can enhance its product range and presence across several markets in the world.

Futamura EMEA sales and marketing manager Andy Sweetman said: “We have had a very positive first year; this is thanks entirely to our engaged and dedicated workforce and the encouragement of our new parent company, who has proven to be a very supportive guardian for the NatureFlex and Cellophane brands.

As per the company, there was a significant growth in sales for its NatureFlex brand, renewable and compostable films to its customers. Its customers include both converters and brand owners, who are claimed to be demanding sustainable packaging solutions, while embracing its technical and sustainable properties. The company is claiming that its quality and service are at all-time high.

Sweetman said: “I am very excited to see what the next year brings; Futamura’s commitment to this business is demonstrated by their investment to strengthen our existing capabilities, which will enable us to realise our clear vision to further develop the business for the long-term.”

Futamura Chemical is a plastic and cellulose films-maker. After it acquired Innovia Films, the company is poised of making global footprint with production sites in the UK, the US and Japan.

The company is claimed to lead market in renewable and compostable packaging films and cellulose casings. Presently, the company has a workforce of about 1500 people.
