The Bangladesh garment sector, especially the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), should organize road shows in Brazil, Japan, Russia and the US to boost the image of the country’s garment sector, former Commerce Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has said.
Speaking as the chief guest at a ceremony to mark the conclusion of the 11th Chittagong Apparel, Fabric and Accessories Exposition-2013 (CAFAXPO 2013), the ex-Minister said the country’s private sector should take steps to build more confidence about Bangladeshi garments amongst foreign buyers.
He urged the BGMEA to organize CAFAXPO more elaborately from next year.
Mr. Jafrul Islam Chowdhury, former state Minister, said the apparel sector not only contributes to economic development of the country, but also brings social development by helping in reduction of rural poverty.
