International technology firm Andritz has been awarded a contract to upgrade stock preparation line of PM1 machine at Mariysky Pulp and Paper Mill, in Volzhsk, Russia.
Under the contract, Andritz will upgrade the existing stock preparation line in the sack kraft paper production line with advanced equipment for thickening and high-consistency refining.
The sack paper production line, which uses a mixture of unbleached hard- and softwood as raw material, has a capacity of 175 bone dry metric ton (bdmt) per day.
Andritz will be responsible for the installation of a ModuScreen CP, an Andritz Twin Wire Press with shredder, as well as an Andritz high-consistency 1C refiner to significantly enhance the sack paper properties.
The upgraded machine is scheduled for start-up in the third quarter of 2018.
Andritz said that modernizing the existing two-stage, low-consistency refining process will help in achieving a significant improvement in the final product.
However, the existing Andritz-built low-consistency TwinFlo refiner, will continue to operate in the layout.
The contract also includes supply of engineering, training, and advisory services for mechanical installation work, commissioning, and start-up work.
Mariysky Pulp and Paper Mill in involved in supplying paper products, such as wrapping paper, sack paper, writing paper, packaging paper, and corrugated board.
Recently, Andritz won a contract to supply a new flash drying line, including an Andritz Twin Wire Press, fluffer, and flash dryer to Stora Enso Imatra Mills, a member of the Stora Enso Group.
Stora Enso Imatra Mills produces one million tons of board and paper annually using two production units including Kaukopää and Tainionkoski.
