The Chevrolet Corvette Stingray and Silverado have swept the 2014 North American Car and Truck of the Year (NACOTY) awards.
The double win is a first for the bowtie brand, and the first clean sweep for General Motors since the Saturn Aura and the previous-generation Silverado were victorious in 2007.
The Corvette Stingray muscle car beat the Mazda 3 and Cadillac CTS to claim the Car of the Year award (GM’s sixth overall), while the Silverado outshone the Jeep Cherokee and Acura MDX to take home the Truck of the Year crown (GM’s fourth).
The six finalists were selected from a shortlist of 11 cars and 12 pick-up trucks and SUVs, and voted on by an independent jury of 48 automotive journalists.
This year marks the second in a row that two American cars have been awarded, following the Cadillac ATS and the Ram 1500 from 2013.
