New Zealand-based milk marketing company A2 Milk Co is set to foray into the US in mid-April with a range of fresh milk cartons.
The firm, which has been in the Australian market for seven years, has commenced trading on Australian Securities Exchange on 31 March.
For the US launch, the company plans to invest $20m over the next three years. This amount will be funded from internal sources as well as by cashflow, reported The New Zealand Herald.
The firm has appointed Jeffrey O'Neill as CEO for the US business. With over three decades of experience in brand marketing and sales, O'Neill worked with Pepsi-Cola and Priszm/Yum brands. More recently, he headed the US restaurant chain Einstein Noah Restaurant Group.
A2 Milk managing director Geoffrey Babidge was quoted by the publication as saying that the ASX debut marked another step to making its dairy products available in several markets.
"Our Australian operations are the most significant component of our current business, continuing to deliver strong profit and revenue growth.
"The ASX listing, in conjunction with the listing on the main board of the NZX, provides a closer alignment between our capital markets profile and our current business."
Australian-based Freedom Food Group is the biggest shareholder, with nearly 18% stake.
