Global DRI Production in The 14 Countries Accounting for Approximately 87 Percent

According to the data released by the World Steel Association (worldsteel), global direct reduced iron (DRI) production in the 14 countries accounting for approximately 87 percent of total world DRI production in 2013, amounted to 4.81 million metric tons in January this year decreasing 1.46 percent compared to the previous month and up 3.64 percent year on year.

The worldsteel data show that India was again the largest DRI producer among the countries surveyed in January this year. India's estimated DRI output was 1.31 million metric tons in the given month, increasing by 11.76 percent year on year. India was followed by Iran, Mexico and Saudi Arabia in November, with estimated outputs of 1.23 million mt, 480,000 mt and 420,726 mt respectively.
