LEM Plans to Open a Production Plant in Bulgaria, with an Initial Investment of EUR1.6m

LEM plans to open a production plant in Bulgaria, with an initial investment of two million Swiss Francs (€1.6m).

The plan is to have the facility in Sofia up and running by October. It will create 50 new jobs.

This is part of the transducer and sensor company's strategy to relocate volume production to plants in countries with lower operating costs. The facility in Bulgaria will also be close to LEM's European customer base.

"With the new plant we will increase our competitiveness while significantly growing our presence in the European economy," said Fran?ois Gabella, CEO of LEM.

LEM has facilities in Geneva, Switzerland and Machida, Japan. The Swiss operations will carry out R&D activities and marketing.

LEM said the Machida facility will concentrate on the Japanese market.
