Jeep Reveals Six New Concepts for Annual Moab Safari

Jeep and the Chrysler Group’s Mopar have teamed up to create six new concept vehicles to be unveiled later this week at the annual Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah.

Combining production and prototype items from Jeep Performance Parts, the concepts are intended to impress extreme off-road fanatics and Jeep owners who are passionate about customisation, performance and personalisation.

President and CEO of Jeep, Mike Manley, said off-road enthusiasts would be pleasantly surprised by the range of models on display at this year’s Easter Jeep Safari.

“We go to this extremely popular event in Moab each year to showcase the latest production vehicles from Jeep, as well as a host of new customisation and personalisation ideas.”

Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk II

A car Jeep calls the most extreme Grand Cherokee yet, the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk II is powered by a clean EcoDiesel engine with plenty of low-end torque to shift the blood-orange beast over any obstacle.

The Trailhawk II is kitted out with 35-inch off-road tires, 17-inch Jeep Wrangler Rubicon aluminium wheels, bigger wheel wells, custom fender flares, custom front and rear skid plates, dual rear tow hooks, modified Mopar rock rails, a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT bonnet, SRT front and rear bumpers modified for extra ground clearance, a black front grille, a matt black roof and one-off custom roof rails.

Jeep Wrangler Mopar Recon

With a 350kW 6.4-litre HEMI V8 Mopar crate engine thrown in up front, the Jeep Wrangler Mopar Recon features a grey exterior, Dana 60 front and rear axles with 4.10 gearing suspended by a 4.5-inch prototype long-arm lift kit, Jeep Performance Parts prototype forged eight-lug beadlock wheels with 39-inch off-road tyres, Mopar front and rear half-door and window kits, front and rear off-road modified ‘Stinger’ bumpers, Warn winch, high-clearance flat fenders, rock rails, a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 10th Anniversary hood, prototype LED headlights, a removable canvas roof, swing-away rear tyre, body-coloured rear corner guards and tail-lights guards.

The interior scores Mopar slush mats, black door-sill guards, a locking below-floor storage box and custom seats made from Navy blankets and Navy camouflage material.

Jeep Wrangler Stitch

A follow-up to the past Easter Jeep Safari concept the Pork Chop, the new Jeep Wrangler Stitch is based on the 2013 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon but has been lightened to 1360Kg, resulting in a power-to-weight ratio near that of the 344kW Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT.

With weight removed the frame, axles, body and interior, the Stitch is sans an audio system and all heating and air conditioning components, the front replaced with SRT Viper items, the rear seats have been removed altogether, sections of the body have been cut out, the doors have been removed, and the hood is a custom carbonfibre copy of the Jeep Wrangler 10th Anniversary Rubicon’s, the standard roll cage has been replaced with a lightweight chrome moly version, and the Full-Traction lower control arms, floor pan and GenRight fuel tank have all been made out of aluminium.

While much was taken out, added was a Mopar cold-air intake, Mopar exhaust kit, 35-inch off-road tyres, lightweight 17-inch aluminium wheels, custom DynaTrac Pro Rock 44 axles with 4.88 gears and ARB front and rear differential locks, King shocks with pneumatic bump stops and Tom Woods drive shafts.

Jeep Wrangler Sand Trooper II

A step up from the Sand Trooper that debuted at SEMA in Las Vegas in 2012, the Jeep Wrangler Sand Trooper II ups the ante with the help of Mopar and a 280kW/542Nm 5.7-litre HEMI V8, a five-speed automatic transmission and Jeep Performance Parts prototype forged beadlock wheels with 40-inch off-road tyres.

A satin black grille, front and rear half-door and window kits, modified front and rear off-road ‘Shorty’ bumpers, Warn winch, Mopar flat fenders, rock rails, a vented bonnet, LED off-road lights and headlights, Rubicon 10th Anniversary swing away rear tyre and black tail-light guards also feature as does a reversing camera, black door-sill guards and leather seats.

Jeep Wrangler Flattop

Blending style and refinement with hard-core off-road capabilities, the Jeep Wrangler Flattop sees a custom one-piece windowless hardtop – the roof and windshield have been chopped two inches – removed B-pillar, customised Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 10th Anniversary model bumpers and bonnet, custom high line fender flares, LED headlights and tail-lights and a Warn Zeon winch join leather seats, Mopar slush mats and copper accents on the steering wheel spokes, air-vent surrounds and passenger grab handle.

Bolted to the Flattop is a Mopar cold-air intake, Mopar exhaust kit, aluminium five-spoke wheels with 37-inch off-road tyres, DynaTrac Pro Rock 44 front and Dana 60 rear axles with ARB air differential locks, TeraFlex sway bars, Full-Traction control arms and King shocks with pneumatic bump stops.

Jeep Wrangler Slim

Powered by a 3.6-litre V6, the Rock Lobster-coloured two-door Jeep Wrangler Slim features full doors and a hard top, prototype 17-inch Jeep Performance Parts forged beadlock wheels and the lightest rear bumper offered by Mopar.

Kitted out with a 3:73 anti-spin axle, lightweight rock rails, a black grille, black hood decal, LED headlights, a prototype Mopar 2-inch lift kit and a Mopar cold-air intake, the Slim concept also features a black interior with leather seat covers and a CB radio.
