The Sales of Ford Europe Cuts Down 12.3% in July 2012

Ford Motor has reported that its European vehicle sales decreased by 12.3% in July 2012 and continues to have weak response for vehicles in the market.

In July 2012, Ford sold 83,100 vehicles in its traditional 19 European markets, 12.3% lower when compared to same period last year.

The company's sales were 700,200 units year-to-date, down 10.6% on the same period last year.

In the UK, Ford achieved sales of 208,200 units, up by 1.4% when compared to same period prior year.

Ford sales in Russia rose 17.5% to 73,800, while market share increased to 4.3% and in Eastern Europe, the company's sales rose by 13.1% to 30,700 units year-to-date.

Ford of Europe vice president of marketing, sales and services Roelant de Waard said that overall industry sales remain very weak across much of Europe given the economic environment.

"The pricing environment continues to be very aggressive, so it's very important to have a strong line-up of fresh and innovative cars and commercial vehicles that really resonate with customers," de Waard said.
