The Seat Leon SC has been revealed ahead of the Sports Coupe’s unveiling at next month’s Geneva motor show.
Combing three-door hatchback looks and a functional interior, the Volkswagen Golf Mark 7-based Seat Leon SC still manages to match the five-door variant for luggage space, delivering a 380-litre capacity, despite running on a 35mm shorter wheelbase.
Powered by a range of direct injection turbocharged petrol and diesel engines sourced from within the Volkswagen Group, including a frugal 1.6-litre TDI that achieves a fuel consumption figure of 3.8 litres per 100 kilometres and a 135kW 2.0-litre TSI, the Seat Leon SC is available with either a five- or six-speed manual transmission or a six- or seven-speed dual-clutch DSG automatic, depending on engine variant.
With short overhangs, an aggressive front end, strong character lines and an expansive rear window, Seat says the two-door Leon SC’s styling has been inspired by the development of the design language seen across the IBE, IBL and IBX concepts.
Inside, Volkswagen-standard fit and finish combine with a black and brushed aluminium theme highlighted by red stitching on the seats and flat-bottom multifunction steering wheel.
Despite Volkswagen, Audi and Skoda all being sold locally, the Seat brand is not currently sold in Australia.
The 2013 Geneva motor show kicks off on March 5.
