SRAM Is Introducing an Upgraded Version of Its Mountain Bike

SRAM is introducing an upgraded version of its mountain bike trigger shifters for three of its parts groups, and is trickling down its Type 2 anti-chain slap feature to its X7-level rear derailleur.

The company said all the updated parts are available this month.

The shifters have a new more compact design and "zero-loss" shifting. The new design is available in the XO, X0 and X7 groups. The XO (MSRP: $262) has a carbon fiber body and ball bearing pivots. The X9 (MSRP: $123) also has ball bearings but lacks the carbon body. The X7 (MSRP: $70) has neither carbon or ball bearings.

The X7 rear deraileur gets the Type 2 clutch design that reduces chain slap and bounce, quieting the ride and making chain drop less likely. The feature was previously available only on the higher priced X9 and XO derailleurs.

The 10-speed compatible X7 weighs 293 grams, will handle up to a 36-tooth cassette and is available in three cage lengths. MSRP is $89.
