Toyota FJ Cruiser Updated for 2014

The Toyota FJ Cruiser has been updated for 2014 with mild revisions headlined by a new vintage-inspired exterior paint colour.

A new Retro Blue hue based on an original LandCruiser FJ40 paint finish has been added to the FJ Cruiser’s 2014 colour palette, replacing the previously available Military Blue.

Still offered in six other colours – French Vanilla; Cement; Ebony; Sandstorm; Orange Clay and Jungle – the 2014 FJ Cruiser also gains newly designed seven-spoke 17-inch alloy wheels. Continuing to use a 70-profile tyre, which Toyota says is for optimum off-road capability, ground clearance remains at 224mm.

The part-time 4×4 FJ Cruiser’s 200kW/380Nm 4.0-litre V6 petrol engine carries over for the new model year and is again tied to a five-speed automatic transmission to claim 11.4 litres per 100km average fuel consumption.

Still offered exclusively as a single specification model priced from $47,990 ($475 for metallic paint), the SUV comes standard with stability control, six airbags, active front-seat headrests and a reversing camera. The FJ is also covered under Toyota’s Service Advantage capped-price servicing program, meaning $210 services for the first of three years or 60,000km (up to the first six services).

First introduced locally in 2011, the Toyota FJ Cruiser was updated in March this year receiving the ‘Crawl’ off-road cruise control system and a new 87-litre sub-tank that boosted total fuel capacity from 72 litres to 159 litres.
