According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in 2012 new motor vehicle registrations in Turkey amounted to 1,069,292 units, with a 10.3 percent decrease compared to 2011.
In December 2012, new motor vehicle registrations in Turkey amounted to 72,195 units, decreasing by 21.5 percent month on month and remaining stable year on year.
New passenger car registrations in Turkey in 2012 totaled 565,791 units, decreasing six percent year on year. Passenger cars accounted for 52.9 percent of total registrations. Small truck registrations in 2012, on the other hand, decreased by 21.25 percent year on year, amounting to 197,643 units. Small truck registrations constituted 18.5 percent of total registrations.
