Danish toy bricks manufacturer Lego has announced plans to discontinue packaging and processing operations at its Billund plant in western Denmark, in a bid to slash costs.
The unit manufactures the toys' packaging as well as decorations.
The company expects to cut down delivery times by packaging the toys closer to the markets where they are sold.
According to Lego, more than 90% of the Billund production is already packaged abroad, and the company still has plans to continue to invest in Denmark.
As a result of the termination, the company will cut 380 jobs at its plant in the next two and a half years.
