China demands more IT services driven due to the growth of Chinese automakers and financial institutions, says Tech Mahindra.

Local enterprises in China are upgrading productivity through the use of technology and international retail brands in the country are searching for IT solutions to expand their footprint in the domestic consumer market.

“Tech Mahindra is witnessing significantly higher demand from international retail brands seeking to penetrate or enlarge their market presence in China,” said Rohit Gandhi, senior vice president- Asia Pac, India & MEA, Tech Mahindra. “We have recently helped at least nine major global corporations in their China retail rollout, providing consultancy for sales and marketing, applications and IT support solutions for them.”

Experiencing strong demand for IT and engineering solutions in China, Tech Mahindra has been adding 70 associates every quarter for its China operations.

The India-headquartered global IT solutions company intends to triple the total headcount to 1,500 by 2015.

Connected future cars

Tech Mahindra has been running business in China since 2002 and is currently assisting Chinese automakers in designing smarter, more connected future cars.

The country is set to get cars that boast a range of features including infotainment, electronic power steering and human machine interface. The company will also help the car makers to get quality certification.

Tech Mahindra’s business activity in China in the current financial year is growing better than the company’s global growth rate. Its engineering sector accounted for 65 percent of the company’s revenue in China.

“Amidst the uncertainties in the global markets and rising labour costs across the country, China-based manufacturers are embracing technology at a much faster pace than before to maintain their competitive edge,” added Gandhi. “Hence, we are seeing very strong traction for our engineering solutions.”

Tech Mahindra will participate in Dalian World Economic Forum scheduled from 11 to 13 September 2013. A total of 1,500 global business leaders from 90 countries will participate at the Forum.
