Luxury spirits company Aristocrat Group (ASCC) has begun the production of bag-in-box packaging for premium vodka to be launched in the US.
The company is preparing to launch its new Big Box Vodka in the bag-in-box packaging that contains a bladder placed inside a box. It has previously launched bag-in-box wines.
The new packaging system puts to use a microflute cardboard, claimed to be displaying high durability and insulation.
Each box houses a spouted, inner beverage bladder that contains 1.75 liters of vodka, more than twice of what the traditional 750ml bottles offer.
ASCC CEO Robert Federowicz said: "A unique packaging concept was central to the development of this new product, so we've taken as much care to ensure the quality of packaging production as we have with the distillation process.
"No other bag-in-box spirit features a waxed-cardboard box that can serve as the product's own disposable ice chest. We're very excited for consumers to have a chance to try out this groundbreaking product for themselves."
The manufactured boxes will be transported to ASCC's partner distillery in Idaho to fill them with vodka.
The vodka is made from Idaho Winter Wheat and rocky mountain water after subjecting them to a four-column distillation process.
Big Box Vodka will be made available at retail stores in California, Nevada, Florida, Louisiana and Texas in the US.
"Increasingly sophisticated customers have caught on to the benefits of bag-in-box packaging, such as a longer shelf life after opening, easy handling, a lower price per liter and significant environmental advantages.
"The time is now right for the bag-in-box concept to make a splash in the vodka industry, too," Federowicz previously said.
