AmCham Hong Kong Intends to Invest Around $1bn in Vietnam Apparel Sector

The US Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong (AmCham Hong Kong) intends to invest around US$ 1 billion in Vietnam in the field of production of raw materials for garment industry, according to Mark Gillin, chairman of US Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (AmCham Vietnam).

The AmCham Vietnam chairman said this during a meeting held with the local government of the Dong Nai province in the country, in order to discuss possibilities for expanding cooperation in the field of foreign investment and promotion of exports.

The province of Dong Nai in Vietnam has 34 industrial parks which have been approved by the Minister for Planning and Development, out of which currently 27 are operational.

As of now, the province has 1,402 international projects from 40 countries and territories with an investment of nearly US$ 24 billion, of which the US has initiated around 32 projects with an investment of US$ 187 million.

Mr. Gillin also said that the AmCham Vietnam is eager to cooperate with the provincial government of Dong Nai and discuss investment opportunities especially in the garment sector.
