American Apparel,the vertically integrated clothing manufacturer based in downtown Los Angeles,is announcing its participation in Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week TOKYO 2013 S/S(MBFW TOKYO).
American Apparel's participation celebrates the brand's seventh anniversary in Japan.The event will take place at Shibuya Hikarie,the official venue of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week TOKYO 2013 S/S.
"We wanted to do something new this year and Tokyo is a city that is very open-minded to new,creative ideas,particularly when it comes to fashion.We are honored to be one of the first brands without an appointed designer to show at a high-profile Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week like this,"said Katherine Johnson,American Apparel's Japan operations manager.
On the eve of its seventh year of operations in Japan,the American Apparel brand is resurgent.The company now has four stores,a popular online and mobile store as well as an e-commerce platform with Amazon JP.Sales for the company are up 50%over 2011.
"Japan is an exciting market for us right now and we have a recent track record of successful collaborations.We're continuing to try new things to expand the brand and Fashion Week is the perfect place to do that,"Johnson said.
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week TOKYO 2013 S/S takes place on Monday,October 15 and begins at 20:30 JST,with the company's presentation taking place at 22:00.Other sponsors of the show include Maybelline New York and TONI&GUY.American Apparel's anniversary party is produced by ageHa.Catering will be provided by Arms Burger and Ben&Jerry's Ice Cream.
