In view of fast growing global demand for LED lighting, China-based LED packaging houses Shenzhen Refound Optoelectronics, Guangzhou Hongli Opto-Electronic, MLS, Foshan Nationstar Optoelectronics and Shenzhen Jufei Optoelectronics are expanding or will soon expand production capacities, according to LED industry sources in Taiwan.
Refound has invested CNY430 million (US$69.4 million) to expand monthly packaging capacity by 7.0-8.0 billion LED chips mainly for use in LED lighting and LED display panels, with the expansion to be completed in mid-2016, the sources said.
Hongli has invested CNY1.09 billion to add monthly packaging capacity of 1.3 billion LED chips, while MLS will expand monthly packaging capacity from 22.0 billion LED chips currently to 30.0 billion units, the sources noted. Nationstar and Jufei will invest CNY210 million and CNY530 million, respectively, in capacity expansion, the sources indicated.
