According to report of the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), the US imported 2.442 million net tons of steel in June, decreasing by 14% from May.
In June, the country’s imports of finished steel were at 1.956 million net tons, down by 9% month on month.
In the first half of this year, the US’s imports of steel and finished steel products totaled 15.714 million net tons and 12.351 million net tons, falling by 11% and 9% year on year respectively.
Meanwhile, it’s predicted that the country’s imports of steel and finished steel products would be at 31.4 million net tons and 24.7 million net tons respectively in 2013.
