Magna Constructed a New Automotive Exteriors Manufacturing Facility in Mexico

Automotive supplier Magna International has commenced construction on a new automotive exteriors manufacturing facility in Queretaro, Mexico.

The company is investing $135m on the 285,000 ft2 plant, which will manufacture molded and painted exterior parts like fascias and rocker panels for different automakers.

Magna plans to open the plant in the first quarter of 2016, and employ around 600 people within the first year.

The company already has 29 manufacturing facilities in Mexico, and the first facility was established in 1991 at Puebla.

Magna Exteriors president Grahame Burrow said: "We are pleased to establish operations in Queretaro, a growing region for the automotive manufacturing industry with a skilled workforce and professional business environment.

"Our growth in Mexico offers opportunities for Magna to continue to align ourselves with the ongoing needs of our global customers."
