If you're sick of hearing how beautiful and fabulous the Samsung Galaxy S8 is, look away now. Samsung is going to pre-install the smartphone with McAfee's security software to turn it into a virus-rocking powerhouse.
McAfee today announced that its VirusScan security software will come pre-installed with the Galaxy S8 and S8+ starting in April.
The Galaxy S8 already comes with new software called Samsung Knox, which is more focused on protecting users' data and providing better security for those who use their phones for both their work and personal lives. The addition of McAfee VirusScan will bolster the handset's line of defence against internet viruses and cyber hackers.
McAfee, which was recently acquired by Intel, has been protecting our computers again viruses practically since time began, so if there's any software you're going to trust to keep your flashy new Galaxy S8 safe, it's this.
For other Galaxy users yet to make the upgrade to the S8, there's some good news. The software will also be available free of cost for the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S7, and the Galaxy S7 edge.
Samsung isn't stopping at the newly-launched Galaxy S8 and its other handsets, though. There are going to be security upgrades across the board, with Samsung PCs shipping with a 60-day free trial of McAfee LiveSafe this year.
Samsung TVs will also get McAfee Security, which is currently only available in the US and South Korea.
