Radiant Opto-Electronics shipped 11.355 million LED backlight units (BLUs) in November, dropping on month by 6.9%, according to the company.
Radiant Opto-Electronics expects December shipments of BLUs used in tablets to slip on month but those of BLUs used in LCD TVs and monitors to rise.
Radiant Opto-Electronics has extended BLU production to application to smartphones and is likely to begin shipments in the first quarter of 2015, the company said. Radiant Opto-Electronics has shipped BLUs used in 49-inch LCD TVs to China-based vendor Xiaomi Technology and may additionally land orders for BLUs used in 55-inch LCD TVs from Xiaomi in the first quarter of 2015.
Radiant Opto-Electronics on December 10 reported consolidated revenues of NT$5.042 billion (US$163 million) for November, decreasing by 2.31% on month and by 20.52% on year; and sales $of NT$46.592 billion for January-November, dipping on year by 17.89%. While consolidated revenues for December are expected to drop sequentially, Radiant Opto-Electronics expects sales for the fourth quarter to grow by 10-15% on quarter.
