The Arab state of Oman is hopeful that India will lift the anti-dumping duty imposed on polypropylene (PP) manufactured in Oman since December 2010.
Oman’s Ministry of Commerce said it is negotiating with the Indian Government on the issue and it is hopeful that some positive outcome would soon emerge.
Ahmed Hassan Al Dheeb, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, said there was some misunderstanding about incentives provided by the Government to local industries.
He added that once the misunderstanding is clarified to the Indian Government, it would drop imposing duty on PP exports from Oman.
He further said that he is confident that Omani firms are not dumping their products in India and the anti-dumping duty would soon be dropped.
