A Center of Excellence Has Been Established for Pet Food Packaging by Exopack

Exopack has established a new manufacturing center of excellence for its pet food business in Spartanburg, South Carolina, in a bid to sustain its position in the development and manufacture of packaging solutions for the pet food market.

According to Exopack, the move comes on the heels of the closure of its Seymour, Indiana plant and the consolidation of Seymour's manufacturing assets to Spartanburg and its other facilities.

Completion of the $6.5m project is expected to provide the new facility with increased printing and converting capacity and broaden its substrate diversity, which complements Exopack's recent pet food investments.

The investments include a Starlinger woven polypropylene converting cell and a Comexi ten-color, gearless quick change press for the Spartanburg plant and two Totani Flat Bottom Quad Seal converting lines and B&B Quad Seal converting lines in Tomah, Wisconsin.

Exopack, which is engaged in the development, manufacture and sourcing of flexible packaging and coatings solutions for various consumer and industrial end-use markets, manages nineteen production facilities positioned across North America, the US, Lebanon and China.
