The Introduction of Air Compressors

To fill flat tires, to clean large as well as small equipments, in your refrigerators and in many other residential and industrial applications, air compressors are used. Take a brief look on its introduction, its type and other applications they are used in.

A wide variety of air compressors are used for commercial and residential purposes that have been commonly used to fill tires, clean work spaces and other rudimentary jobs around the home as well. It takes outside air and sucks it into the container and stores it at the high pressure. In other words, we can say that it is just like a machine used to compress and pressurize the air which is then released by a rapid burst and converts electrical energy into kinetic energy. It simply works by increasing the air pressure and sending it through the container.

There are various kinds of air compressors available in the market and all works with the same principle, so the working of it somehow does not depends of the type of compressor being used for a specific purpose. However the structure is different for each compressor as if we talk about the centrifugal compressor, which sometimes also known as radial compressor, are normally used in a non displacement air compressor and the force used in these devices is achieved when the captured air is pressurize accelerating or decelerating the impeller.

In this kind of compressor, an impeller rotates and to create high pressure, it uses angular momentum and since the impeller creates a continuous air flow, they are referred to as a high capacity compressor. They do not use positive displacement instead use a high speed spinning in color to accelerate the air inside the chamber and then defuse it.

On the other hand, Screw Compressor also termed as a rotary screw, two rotors are present that compress the air for use. The operating parts in this kind of compressor never experience high temperatures and thus they tend to have long life. Generally they are used for commercial purpose and their horse power varies from 5 to 500 HP, usually employed in automobile engines as a superchargers.

An air compressor works mainly either of two mechanism such as positive displacement and negative displacement. Centrifugal compressor works on the negative displacement whereas the screw works on positive displacement. This is the main difference between these two compressors. Usually compressors are used in your refrigerators and other industrial applications. These compressors are used in several applications like:

1. Put air to deflated tires

2. Supply huge volume of pressurize air for macroscopic industrial processes

3. For pneumatic tools, provide a large amount of moderate pressure air

4. Help in cleaning large and small apparatus by supplying moderate air pressure

5. Fill gas cylinder by pumping clean air pressure and many other applications

Centrifugal compressor is commonly used rather than screw when it comes for huge applications and commonly found throughout the production facilities and industrial purposes.
