Following a weak first quarter, German timber dealers organised in the GD Holz (General German Timber Trading Association) have seen a surge in demand across all ranges in April. According to a press release published by the association on 2 May, timber dealers are reckoning with a continuing positive trend in turnover figures in the coming months, partly on account of the good order situation in the trade sector and comparatively high building-approval figures. In addition, a catch-up effect is being reckoned with, especially in the second quarter, as projects had been postponed because of the unfavourable weather conditions in the first quarter, in particular in March.
