Traders now selling products at lower price points. (CW Group) After experiencing a cement shortage two months ago, Ghana has seen a decrease in cement prices, a report from Ghana Online said. Last week, Trade Minister Hannah Tetteh, was in parliament to answer a question on the cause of the shortage of the product. She attributed the shortage to drastic power outages and the irregular raw material supply. She stressed that cement producers have not increased their ex-factory prices to accredited distributors. According to the report, the price per bag of 50kg to accredited distributors inclusive of Valued Added Tax (VAT) since August 2009 to date is ten Ghana cedis, thirty five pesewas for GHACEM and nine Ghana cedis, fourty-three pesewas for Diamond cement. GTV News went round town and reports that most distributors who have stock are selling the product between GHC 14-16, the report said. Source: cemweek.com
