The Staedtler Triplus Mobile Office Is a Unique Set of Writing Tools

Staedtler Triplus Mobile Office

The Staedtler Triplus Mobile Office is a unique set of writing tools that is perfect for keeping in a bag for school or for travel.  This set was given to us for review by Cheryl over at the Writers Bloc website.

As you notice in the first picture above, the unique case that stores the mobile office has what I referred to there as a kick-stand, that is made up from the folded over top to the case.  The fineliner, ballpoint, pencil, and highlighter all slip snugly into the case with a notch cut out for the clips on each one.  The case is easy to load, unload, and set up the kick-stand.

The body on each of the writing implements has a rounded triangular shape that is very helpful in making sure that they don't roll away on you if you leave them on your desk.  Each of them is also just about the same length, except for the mechanical pencil which does not have a cap.

Speaking of the pencil, the next photo up there shows a close up of the eraser on the mechanical pencil.  It took me a few seconds to figure out exactly how the eraser worked, but once I did, I thought it was pretty cool.  A quick twist of the top slowly exposes and retracts the eraser from the inside of the body.  It operates pretty much like a tube of lip balm.  Another interesting aspect of the mechanical pencil is the weight distribution.  It seems that because the tip is made of metal, and the rest of the body is a lighter plastic material, it causes a bit of a bottom heavy situation.  It doesn't make writing with the pencil difficult, but it does just have a slightly awkward feel to it.

Each of the writing implements wrote nicely, even the ballpoint which is usually one of my least favorite types of pens to write with.  The writing sample above shows the results from each, except it is hard to tell where the highlighter was used, which is maybe a good thing?  I say that because I highlighted on the 4th bullet point where the text says "Triples Text Surfer Highlighter" and although the highlighter doesn't scan well, you can clearly see that it did not smear the ink which is obviously a very good thing.  I've reviewed the Inkjet Safe Staedtler Text Surfer Highlighters before and they really do not smear inkjet print, as advertised…or in this case they also don't smear the ink from the fineliner pen.  My only issue with the highlighter in this set is that I wish it was a chisel tip instead of a bullet style tip, but that is just a personal preference.

Individually I would say that the pens, pencil, and highlighter that make up this set are really nice, but as a whole having the Staedtler Triplus Mobile Office all in one neat little package really ups the value, especially for the frequent traveler or for someone who is always between classes.  Thanks again to the folks at Writers Bloc for sending these over to review.
