Novelis Announces The Opening of Its New Global Research & Technology Center

Global aluminum company and recycler of beverage cans Novelis has announced the opening of its new Global Research & Technology Center outside of Atlanta, Georgia, US, which serves as the global hub of the company's research and development activities.

Novelis chief technical officer Jack Clark said the 160,000ft2 center will help drive increased collaboration with the company's customers, enabling it to work side-by-side in developing sustainable aluminum products.

"It's also one of the key components of achieving our commitment to having 80 percent recycled content across our products by the year 2020," Clark added.

The facility will focus on solutions for Novelis' can, automotive and specialty customers, and includes a variety of materials development and testing laboratories, a pilot beverage can production line and meeting space.

In future, a small scale aluminum rolling mill and heat treatment capabilities for finishing automotive aluminum sheet will be included by the company in the new facility.
