As electricity prices shoot up, projectors with energy saving LED lights and 3D features will allow consumers to enjoy the benefits of energy saving and a feeling of presence.
About 80% of projectors shipped in 2012 were 3D, but the ratio has reached 100% this year, according to Coretronic Corp, the world’s largest global projector OEM. 3D projectors have mostly benefited from Texas Instruments (TI’s) Digital Lighting Processor (DLP) chip’s 3D support. In addition, as 3D movies and content becomes increasingly widespread, it has made 3D functions a necessity in DLP projectors shipped this year. Coretronic maintained its shipment of 1.07 million projectors this year.
Coretronic is an OEM for Optoma Corp., Acer Inc. and Dell. Optoma projectors uses TI’s DLP chips, and is focused on high image quality, LED light source, business and education markets. The company’s projector is also promoting complete 3D image technology, making it a standard feature in Optoma projectors.
