Turkey's Coking Coal Imports More Than Double Year on Year in September

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in September this year Turkey's coking coal imports totaled 491,886 mt, more than double year on year and almost triple compared to the previous month. Meanwhile, the value of these imports was $70.55 million, up 52.02 percent year on year.

In the first nine months of the current year, Turkey's coking coal imports totaled 3.90 million metric tons, increasing 15.46 percent compared to the same period of 2012, while the value of these imports totaled $631.51 million, decreasing 18.79 percent year on year.

In the first nine months this year, Turkey's coking coal imports from the US increased by 43.64 percent to 2.35 million mt, imports from Australia decreased by 13.67 percent to 905,363 mt and imports from Canada decreased 31.26 percent to 338,707 mt, all compared with the same period of the previous year.
