Packaging systems provider Mariani has purchased CAD Schroer's Factory Layout software and the PDC data management environment for 3D packaging line design.
The deal includes MPDS4 Factory Layout Plus package with mechanical handling catalog for conveyor design. It also includes licenses for the PDC engineering content management environment and the 3D Component Designer tool.
The packaging system provider has also signed a long-term software support and maintenance contract with CAD Schroer, which includes all software updates and revisions, online and telephone support, as well as individual guidance.
Mariani layout manager Marcello Zanella said that CAD Schroer provides the tools and knowledge that allow the company to use the software in a better way that suits each customer.
"MPDS4 will allow us to work flexibly in 2D or 3D, based on individual customer requirements and the size of each project," Zanella added.
Under the deal, Mariani will also import 50,000 CAD drawings into MPDS4's 2D drafting environment through DXF/DWG interface.
The MPDS4 Factory Layout allows users to build 2D layouts and switch to 3D to route conveyors, pipes from the catalogs.
