Japanese automobile manufacturer Nissan Motor will begin production of Rogue crossover SUV for export to North American market.
The SUV shares the platform of X-Trail and will be produced at its subsidiary in Kyushu next year.
At the rate of 100,000 units a year, the production will be done in keeping with the Rogue variant in Tennessee, the US and Busan, Korea.
The Rogue variant recorded sales of about 135,000 units in the US, which is 36.3% increase compared to the same period previous year, since its introduction in November 2013.
After having explored ways to raise the output of the vehicle, the company zeroed in on Nissan Motor Kyushu in consideration of its quality, cost competitiveness and flexibility. It also banked on its gold-standard mixed-production lines adopted from the Renault-Nissan Alliance.
The unit also makes another version of Rogue for export to North America.
Besides, the extra production has been estimated to aid Nissan in raising its output in Japan to one million units in 2016.
