To demonstrate ZigBee RF4CE wireless interfacing in the home, NXP has developed a remote control and remote monitor for multiple domestic appliances.
Built around the firm's JN5161 wireless microcontroller, the hand-held has a capacitive touch screen and can be used for applications including home entertainment and residential air conditioning systems.
"A wide range of information can be communicated from the appliance back to the remote control," said the firm. "For a home entertainment system, this might include information about different channels, specific content, volume and other settings. For air conditioning systems, this could include temperature and humidity levels, power consumption history, and any problems with components that require maintenance."
