Microsoft Gearing up to Show off Windows 10 Mobile Software Before January Is out

Microsoft Windows 10 Smartphone Preview Coming This Month

Microsoft is gearing up to show off its Windows 10 mobile software before January is out, according to a new report.

The Verge reckons that Microsoft’s grand Windows 10 smartphone throwdown will take place on January 21 at a press event.

Attributed to ‘sources familiar with Microsoft’s plans’, the firm will be showing off a demo of several Windows 10 mobile features.

These will include ‘user interface changes,’ that should see the mobile UX more closely resemble Windows 10 desktop and the Xbox One console.

This is all part of Microsoft’s grand plan for Windows 10 that will see most of the company’s software platforms align under one banner.

This means that mobile, desktop, and games console will all share similar UX style and features, and will share a common app store.

Some of the fruits of this merger include the desktop version of Windows 10 getting its own Cortana voice assistant software, previously only available on mobile.

We’ve already seen the Windows 10 Technical Preview, which showed off a lot of the desktop features.

This month’s preview will focus more heavily on the consumer side of Windows 10 however, with desktop, phones, and tablets all getting involved.

Microsoft may also use the occasion to fully officialise its Window 10 branding, finally rubbishing the not-long-for-this-world Windows Phone and Windows RT.

We’ll keep you posted on the latest Windows 10 updates as the event goes down.
