Prices for Sapphire Ingots Have Stopped Falling Recently

Prices for sapphire ingots have stopped falling recently in light of the rising sapphire substrate prices, according to sapphire ingot supplier USI Optronics. Prices of 2-inch sapphire substrates have increased to US$8.5-9 on average recently, and the production utilization rates at most sapphire substrate makers have also rebounded, USI indicated. With order visibility now extending to one month and the LED lighting business heating up, there is room for sapphire ingot suppliers to hike prices, USI noted. USI posted revenues of NT$63 million (US$2.1 million) in May, down 7.4% sequentially and 22.3% on year. Source: DIGITIMES
