Outdoor footwear brand Keen has brought Mike Abbott on board as its president. Abbott assumes the new job July 8. He comes to the company with nearly two decades of experience in global operations, most recently as chief operating officer of Specialized Bicycles, where he first joined as general manager in 2009.
Before his entry into the bike industry, Abbott was chief financial officer for Burton Snowboards.
“Mike has proven his ability to lead great companies through rapid growth while maintaining and fostering their authenticity, innovation and superior service. He has worked for brands at the top of their industries and knows what it takes to lead,” said Keen founder and CEO Rory Fuerst in a statement.
Abbott replaces James Curleigh, who left the company year ago to become executive vice president and president of the Levi’s brand of Levi Strauss & Co. Curleigh was president and CEO of Keen before his departure.
Abbott and his family will relocate to Portland, Oregon, where Keen is headquartered.
