HTC Vive Now Shipping Immediately in UK, Waiting Lists Finally Cleared

It’s official: UK shipping delays for the HTC Vive have come to an end, meaning you can get your hands on the VR headset quicker than ever.

HTC has confirmed that the waiting list for HTC Vive headsets has finally been cleared in the UK, which means shipping now takes place immediately – well, within two to three days of purchase, anyway. US queues were cleared earlier, with immediate shipping kicking off about two weeks ago in the states.

The HTC Vive first launched on April 5, 2016, but has been plagued with shipping delays ever since. Now HTC is ramping up its sales efforts however, and has confirmed that there are now six demo spaces across the UK, including at Harrods in London, and Dixons on Tottenham Court Road. Each location has hundreds of Vive demos.

Dan O’Brien, VP of HTC Vive, said:

“It’s incredibly exciting to be bringing Vive to the public, with our retail partners investing in increased demo space, and off-the-shelf models to be available this month. Through our partnerships, we are able to offer the chance for people to try the only truly immersive virtual offering on the market today.”

The HTC Vive currently retails at £689 in the UK, and is the only consumer-ready tethered system that currently allows room-scale virtual reality, i.e. you can move around in a defined ‘room size’ space. There are currently 200 titles available to buy on Steam for the Vive, although this roster is set to grow significantly over the coming months and years.
