Chung Hung Steel, one of the major re-rollers in Taiwan planned to triple its API pipe production capacity to 270,000 tons per year after commissioning a new Greenfield plant in central Taiwan this year. The official of Chung Hung Steel said that the new facility will produce API grade oil country tubular goods (OCTG) and line pipes, mainly supplied to North American and Australian markets. It's learned that the company will start a test of a 50,000 tpy small-diameter mill for oil tubing less than 6" diameters on July 1st. Also, the test of a 150,000 tpy mill for casting tubes up to 20" diameters will be started by end of 2013. Chung Hung Steel targeted to begin supplying the commercial products in 2014.
