Solar Energy Industry Faces Challenges in 2013

Development of new energy promotes low-carbon economic growth. It means a lot to our environment. New energy industry faces obstacles abroad and at home. Take China's solar manufacturing industry as an example.

Solar Energy Industry Faces Challenges in 2013

China's solar manufacturing industry has risen from insignificance to dominating the globe in the past decade. But that position is now being put to the test by an anti-subsidy investigation the United States began in October 2011 and an anti-dumping investigation started by the European Union last year.

Timeless financial subsidies makes the situation even worse. Solar-power generators have largely been unaffordable to domestic users.  Unlike people in Europe, most urban residents in China live in high-rise buildings, which means that they have to share roofs with their upstairs or downstairs neighbors. It's difficult for any individual resident to install photovoltaic systems without having the permission of all of the other neighbors under the same roof.  Without expanding the domestic application of solar power plants and encouraging the distribution of solar power generation, 2013 will be a hard time for solar industry.

Way Out
Beside timely financial subsidies, new policies are needed to help explore the domestic solar-energy market,  to increase government subsidies to solar energy users and  to encourage more private users to connect their solar-power generators to the grid.
