Eyeing the potential of the LED lighting market, equipment firms Csun Manufacturing and Chroma ATE are both showcasing related products at LED Lighting Taiwan 2012. Csun has been developing turnkey equipment for producing upstream patterned sapphire substrates (PSS) and has been receiving orders from China. Shipments will begin in second-half 2012.
Chroma launched automated LED lighting fixture testing equipment and has been receiving orders from domestic and international firms. The firm is waiting for demand to increase as the popularity of LED lighting expands.
Wang Baiwei, general manager of Csun, indicated that PSS have been in undersupply, hence many firms have begun to enter production. Despite the fact that some are less optimistic about the LED market in fourth-quarter 2012, Wang believes demand for PSS equipment is unlikely to be affected. Most equipment clients of Csun are China-based firms. PSS equipment sales are likely to account for 10% of Csun's 2012 total revenues.
Chroma has been a producer of testing equipment. At LED Lighting Taiwan 2012, Chroma is exhibiting testing equipment for LED chips, power supplies, and lighting fixtures. Chroma has received orders from several brands. Orders are expected to increase as demand for LED light bulbs is growing.
