To be unveiled as part of Toyota's Advanced Active Safety Research Vehicle (AASRV) program, the Japanese carmaker will unveil its modified Lexus LS 600h hybrid that incorporates Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) technology intended to minimise car crashes.

"We're looking at a car that would eliminate crashes," said the spokesman.

"Zero-collisions is our ultimate aim."

The incorporation of ITS and existing technology from Toyota will allow monitoring whether the driver is awake, to keep the advancedactive safety research vehicle prototype on the road as well as to stop at traffic signals.

The Japanese carmaker has also developed a technology that allows communication between a car and a driver's smartphone that would let the car know about locations by the road letting it.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Audi is also planning to unveil its self-parking car at CES.

Earlier, automobile manufacturers including Volvo had tested self-driving cars in Spain in 2012, and Ford is projecting autonomous vehicles to be launched by 2017.
